Hidden Picture Math

A picture is hiding under 25 tiles, and every tile is a math fact. Tap a tile, type the answer and press Enter: a right answer lifts the tile and shows that piece of the picture. Answer them all and the whole picture appears. Halfway through, see if you can guess what it is.

The picture changes through the year. In October it is something for Halloween, in November something for Thanksgiving, then the winter holidays, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, spring, summer and back to school. The game goes by the date on your device, so a class playing the week before a holiday gets that holiday's picture.

Pick the facts before you start: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division or a mix. A wrong answer gets a second try. After a second miss the answer is shown and the tile lifts anyway, so the picture always finishes. At the end you see how many tiles you got right the first time, out of 25, and which facts to practise next.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Hidden Picture Math?

When the game starts, the first tile is picked and its fact appears above the answer box. Type the answer and press Enter or tap Check. A right answer lifts the tile, and the next covered tile is picked for you. You can tap any covered tile to answer that one instead. When all 25 tiles are gone, the whole picture shows.

What happens if I get a fact wrong?

You get a second try at the same tile. If that answer is wrong too, the right answer is shown, for example 8 + 7 = 15, and the tile lifts so the picture can still be finished. The fact is listed at the end to practise. Your score counts the tiles you got right on the first try.

Why does the picture change?

The picture follows the calendar on your device, and each holiday's picture shows in the weeks before it: Halloween through October, Thanksgiving through November up to the day itself, the winter holidays through the rest of December, then winter, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, spring, summer and back to school. Play again gives new facts with the same picture.

Which math facts are in the game?

Addition is selected to start with. Before you start, tap the operation buttons to switch to subtraction, multiplication or division, or to mix them. Both numbers run from 1 to 9 by default. Open “Change what to practise” to set the range, for example to practise only the 6 times table.
