Math Facts Soccer

Step up to the penalty spot. Every kick in this soccer math game is a math fact: type the answer and press Enter, and the ball flies at the goal. Answer quickly and it hits the back of the net. Take too long and the keeper is ready for it. A wrong answer goes wide. Ten penalties make a match, and three goals in a row is a hat trick.

The keeper is what makes it a game. A bar under the goal fills while each fact is on the screen, and once it is full the keeper is set, so even a right answer gets saved. Knowing that 8 + 7 is 15 is not quite enough. To score, you need to know it without counting on your fingers, and that quick recall is exactly what math facts practice is for.

Pick the facts before kick-off: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, or any mix of them. Then choose a keeper. The Rookie takes ten seconds to get set, the Pro six and the Legend only four. Your best score against each keeper is saved on this device. At full time, the facts you missed are listed with their answers, and you can print a worksheet of just those facts.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Math Facts Soccer?

A fact appears above the answer box and the keeper starts getting ready. Type the answer and press Enter (or tap Shoot) to take the penalty. A right answer before the keeper is set is a goal. A right answer after that is saved, and a wrong answer goes wide. After ten penalties the match is over.

What happens if I take too long?

Nothing is rushed. The fact stays on the screen until you answer, and the next penalty never starts by itself. Once the keeper is set, a right answer is saved instead of scoring, but it still counts as right. At full time those facts are listed separately, as ones you know and can now practise answering faster.

Which math facts are in the game?

Addition is selected to start with. Tap the buttons above the keepers to switch to subtraction, multiplication or division, or to mix several. Both numbers run from 1 to 9 by default. Open “Change what to practise” to widen or narrow the range, for example to practise only the 7 times table.

Which keeper should I choose?

Start with the Rookie, who gives you ten seconds per penalty. When you are scoring eight or more, move up to the Pro (six seconds) and then the Legend (four). Each keeper has a separate best score, so beating the Legend means something.
