Twelve subtraction problems a sheet, mixing shared and different denominators. The generator orders each pair so the larger fraction comes first, which means no answer is ever negative - students at this stage are not expected to handle that, and a stray negative derails a sheet.
Problems where both fractions are equal are dropped rather than printed, since an answer of zero practises nothing. Set Denominators to Unlike Denominators when finding a common denominator is the skill you are after.

How do you subtract fractions with different denominators?
The same way you add them: rewrite both over a common denominator, subtract the numerators, then reduce.
How can I check a fraction subtraction?
Add the answer back to the fraction that was taken away. If 3/4 - 1/3 = 5/12 is right, then 5/12 + 1/3 should give 3/4, and it does: 5/12 + 4/12 is 9/12.
Will any answers be negative?
No. Each pair is ordered so the larger fraction is on the left, and identical pairs are skipped.
